Boys & Girls Club of Volusia and Flagler Counties
Our club chose the Volusia/Flagler County Boys and Girls club as our local charity. The Boys and Girls Club provides a safe place to learn and grow ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals, life-enhancing programs, character-building experiences and Hope and opportunity. The United States is facing a national crisis with soaring high school drop-out rates, coupled with low fitness and high obesity within our young people. Boys & Girls Clubs are providing solutions to this national epidemic through homework help, engaging and fun nutritional tips, energizing sports and recreational activities and challenging academic programs. Throughout America, Clubs are reaching out to a generation at risk by providing positive guidance and exciting opportunities.
Using horse related activities to positively impact well being of those with special needs, Hope Reins is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International) Premier Accredited Center (PAC) located in New Smyrna Beach FL with Path Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructors on staff.
Hope Reins professionals work with assistants and volunteers to plan and implement the best possible riding program for each participant. Participants in our program show improvement in balance, muscle tone, posture, flexibility and motor planning, as well as cognitive abilities, social skills and emotional and psychological well-being. Evaluations and progress reports are provided at regular intervals throughout the program.
We are not only involved with other charities, but continuously open to supporting additional charities! If you have a charity to suggest, please let a member know! We highly encourage everyone’s participation with this effort!
